Soundwave Is Confirmed For Transformers 2

Ever since the first Transformers movie was announced years back, the one Transformer everyone wanted in the movie besides Prime, Megatron and Starscream was the other popular Decepticon, Soundwave. According to one half of the Transformers writing team, Roberto Orci, working Soundwave into the first film was simply just not working. However he confirmes to IGN that for Transformers 2, Soundwave will most definitely be in it, plus he touch's on how they'll build for the sequel.
...some of the die hard fans, which we were a member of that group, felt, well, maybe it's a little light. Maybe it wasn't science fictiony enough. And I think the second one will deliver on a true Transformers story. You know, the first one, we had a limited budget for what it was. Every second of Transformer time is a million dollars or whatever the heck it is, so this time, because we were able to prove through the whole thing that it's a viable live-action movie, we have a little more freedom this time to actually learn about the Transformers, see them, hear them. It's a better balance between the humans and the Transformers.
Q: Is there one particular Transformer, good or bad, that you absolutely had to get into the sequel?
ORCI: Yes.
Q: You're not gonna tell us.
ORCI: I'll tell you. We had to get Soundwave in there.Q: Nice. Where Soundwave goes, will Ravage follow?
ORCI: Perhaps! Who's Ravage? ... I'm kidding! You know, we had Ravage in an early draft of the first movie and Soundwave, and we couldn't do it right and I think this time hopefully we'll have the ability to do it.
Orci also says Transformers begins shooting in just 3 weeks. I'm starting to feel the electric excitment... In unrelated Transformers stuff, Orci also talks a little bit about Star Trek.
As happy as I am that Soundwave is going to be in the sequel I'm not totally convinced that we'll be seeing more backstory or development on the Autobots or the Decepticons themselves. I believe will see a little more then we did in the first film but I'm willing to bet that we'll see more human storys then we'd like. Just look at all of the casting rumors lately. It looks like they're bringing in more human cast members when they should just leave the cast that they have, which is fine by me, and concentrate on bringing in more robots.
Either way, I'm sure the sequel is going to be huge and probably more exciting then the first film. Everyone seems to really be pumped about the sequel so I feel that's a good sign.
Below take a look at a fan created photo of Soundwave. It looks really cool, I wonder if the movie version will look just as awesome.
