Will Kevin Costner Return For The Dances With Wolves Sequel?
A long time ago, rumors came out that a sequel to Dances With Wolves was in the works, called The Holy Road. At the time, not much was known about how things were working behind the scenes, until now.
According to Moviehole, things are “progressing nicely” for The Holy Road, except for one thing.
Kevin Costner wants no part of it. Oooo….
Now the director, Simon Wincer, is looking for his new John Dunbar/Dances With Wolves. Rumored to be the favorite for this role is Viggo Mortensen but no one knows if he’ll take the job. It’s also not known if Graham Greene and Mary McDonnell will reprise their roles. McDonnell of course is just about finished with the very last season of Battlestar Galactica so this could be her next job, but I’m willing to bet they’ll have to pay her big bucks.
This is the thing, I really don’t blame Kevin Costner for not wanting anything to do with this. Not for nothing, I don’t even know why they are making a sequel. I agree that a sequel would be something really cool to see and part of me gets excited at the prospect of another Dances with Wolves story. I loved that movie, it’s absolutely amazing and I’ll watch it as many times as I can for the rest of my life. Kevin Costner was remarkable in it, and he also was a fantastic director. There’s so many good things I can say about this movie, but I’m not feeling a sequel. With out Costner starring and directing, I don’t see the same magic. Costner is probably thinking that he told the story that had to be told, why go further and possibly ruin a good thing.
I could go on forever about this, but it’s not like I have the power to stop this, so whatever. I’ll post more news as it comes.
