Matthew McConaughey Considered For Captain America

Captain America

Matthew McConaughey

On Monday it was announced by Marvel their plans for a Captain America movie called, The First Avenger: Captain America.  Today word is already coming out who Marvel is looking at as a potiential Captain America.

CinemaBlend.com:

One of our long time scoopers dropped us a message tonight to let me know that Matthew McConaughey may be one of Marvel’s leading candidates to slip into Cap’s red white and blue underpants. Our source is a reliable one, but at this point it’s still very early and he’s only one of the actor’s they are considering for the role.

I don't think I would mind the match.  The truth is I never really gave much thought on who could play Captain America, but I'd say Matthew McConaughey would be a pretty good choice.  He has the physic to pull of the red white and blue costume, although I bet the costume would look somewhat different from the old days.  As an actor, he's not bad at all.  The movies that I've seen him in, I never had a problem with his performance.  Sure, he's not Oscar contender but I think he can hold his own.

The bottom line is that this is just extremely early.  Who knows whats going to happen in the next couple of years.  Remember, Captain America isn't even going to premiere until 2011.  Thats a long time, so this is simply all talk.  We'll probably not hear and solid info for another year or two.

All in all, I think that Marvel could find someone better for Captain America, but if it turns out to be McConaughey, I don't think I'd be upset.
