Cloverfield Stars May Return For Sequel??
The past few weeks, both Matt Reeves and JJ Abrams have said that for now a Cloverfield sequel is going to be shelved... for now at least, just so they can do some other projects and of course put together ideas for a sequel that they can be happy with. So we should expect anything for a while since JJ is of course working on Star Trek at the moment as well as doing a couple of other things and Matt Reeves is working on The Invisible Woman.
All of that said, it hasn't stop the rumors of what we may or may not see in Cloverfield 2.
A visit to io9.com says that some Cloverfield stars have been approached for a sequel, but of course nothing is confirmed.
Sources say some Cloverfield stars including Jessica Lucas (Lily Ford) and Mike Vogel (Jason Hawkins) have been approached. Talks started early in 2008 (at the height of Cloverfield fever.) True to the "just a taste" nature of Abrams' work, none of the original characters' fates were sealed on camera. The movie even hinted at their survival with a barely audible whisper to the audience after the credits rolled. So a number of the actors have their fingers crossed that they made it out of the monster madness unscathed, our source revealed.
Its true that the fates of some of the characters are sketchy at best but I ask the question... If you bring those characters back, will it water down the experience? I don't know.
This is the thing... if a Cloverfield movie is going to be made, I personally would rather see a true sequel in traditional filming style, instead of the same movie except in a different vantage point (someone else filming the same event). That would be stupid and no one would go see it. Unless the movie follow the perspective of the monster itself. Whatever happens, I just want a sequel to be just as cool as the first. Abrams and Reeves want America to have our own city destroy monster like Japan has Godzilla.... then they are going to have to work on it. In the end, Cloverfield would get its ass kicked by Godzilla any day.
