Jericho May Yet Get A Third Season

Carol Barbee, executive producer of Jericho tells Scifi Wire that there still is a chance that Jericho can get a 3rd season. Even if CBS doesn't pick Jericho up for a 3rd season, Barbee says that its possible that she'll shop it around. From Scifi Wire:

"I think this next airing will probably tell the tale," Barbee said in an interview at WonderCon in San Francisco on Feb. 24, referring to the upcoming Feb. 26 episode, "Jennings & Rall." "Our numbers have been OK, [but] not great. Our [demographic] has been very good; they've been very happy with that. But we'll see. ... If we trend up this week, I think we'll look pretty good. If we don't trend up, or if we stay the same, I think we'll have to wait and see what they want to do with us. I mean, they're going to air all seven; it's just a matter of how they feel about producing more."

"So I think it's very possible," Barbee added. "We obviously have a relationship now with SCI FI Channel, because they're running our previous episodes. So I think that's a natural place to start looking. But I think that ... there are other people who would be interested in the show if it doesn't continue on CBS." (SCI FI Channel hasn't said whether it would consider picking up Jericho or not at this point.)

I think that if CBS doesn't pick Jericho up for a 3rd season, they'll be making a terrible mistake. Everyone knows that Jericho is a fantastic underrated show. By now everyone understands that the Rating system is completely flawed and overrated, no pun intended.

I'm glad to hear that if it does get cancelled again, Barbee plans or would like to shop it around. If the Scifi Channel picks it up, that itself is a great achievement because Scifi always lets TV shows take its run. That apparent with Stargate and Galactica. Of course the fact that Galactica is coming to an end, Jericho would be a great show to take up spot, if at all possible.

Missed season 1 when it aired, heard about it when season 2 started - so went out and bought the DVD set to catch up and wow what a show. The story and production value are fantastic - can’t believe it’s not extremely popular. Best of luck to the producers to get a 3rd season deal somewhere - I’ll be there where ever it lands. Readers if you haven’t watched this series you are missing out…

That’s exactly what happened with me. I happened to tune in and see it once, loved it, went to Block Buster to get the entire set, and now I bought the DVD. Obviously, the promotion and the time slot have not been adequate if we avid fans are just now discovering the show.

WoW! I started watching this series when the second season was just starting and I had to buy the DVD of the First Season! I also can’t believe that this show is not popular! Great acting and wonderful sets and storylines. Makes you wonder what it takes to REALLY impress.

I watched season one and liked it, but I have to say this season is so much stronger. The storyline moves fast, the actors are great and it’s a very relevant subject matter.

I am definitely re-watching season 1 and 2 on DVD.
And praying for a 3rd one!

I could write an episode of the Simpsons on a napkin. Let’s face facts: America doesn’t want intelligent shows, they want stupidity. I got hooked on Jericho from iTunes when I started to look for things to watch when the writers strike put my favorite show (House) into reruns. House is one of the few shows I’m going back to (again, another intelligent show). It’s an embarrasment to America that more people watch Survivor than Jericho.

I really hope CBS does whats right and brings it back for a third season. I have watched Jericho since season one, it’s nice to have a break from those reality show that flood the air. Jericho is a FANTASTIC show, it would be a bad move for CBS to cancel it. I hope that they don’t blow it, I would hate to think that they don’t care about their viewers.

I went out and bought the Season 1 DVD and ended up watching it all the way through …TWICE. Again - WOW !!!! What a show. I hope for a season 3, 4,5,6 etc. I will be there for all of them.

They absolutely need to continue with a 3rd season. Great actors playing fabulously written parts. If SciFi picks it up, good for them. I am over stupid TV and reality shows also. Rented 1st season from Netflix when I realized Skeet was playing main part and got totally hooked on everything about the show.

Jericho is one of the freshest and original seasons to come down the TV turnpike in quite some time. However, the network has just done a gawd-awful job of promoting it, and had also assigned it to a death-knell of a timeslot.

Obviously CBS is not looking to promote shows for smart people. I wouldn’t have even heard of it if a friend of mine hadn’t told me about it. I caught up with DVDs, as so many have.

Looking forward, I think SciFi is the perfect place for Jericho, if only because SciFi fans often tune in to see what’s on. Few channels actually have a solid following, but SciFi probably leads the list of those that do. (Upon hearing the very first rumors that it was cancelled the first time, I immediately wrote to SciFi to beg them to pick the series up, stating that it was perfect for their venue: a critically-acclaimed show with a die-hard following. Ten thousand pounds of nuts speak.)

This is definitely a show that shouldn’t die anytime soon; the acting and writing is just too good to end up “Brilliant But Cancelled.”

Jericho was the best show that i have seen so far on TV, i couldnt miss an episode for the life of me, i hope a season 3 comes out because i will buy the season dvd for me to watch an one more to keep sealed. i have done that with season 1 but havent seen season 2 out yet. great show i hope a 3rd season goes on.

I have no idea where I was season 1. I only vaguely recall hearing the name, but I never knew what it was about nor had I seen promos for it. Like many here, it was when Sci-Fi channel aired season one that I watched it and I couldn’t believe I knew nothing about the show. I was completely hooked and went to CBS website to catch up on season one while I Tivo season two in HD.

Great show, great acting and I think the only reason they aren’t seeing the numbers is many don’t even know about the show. That and the ratings system is completely horse crap IMO.

Me and my wife love this show!!! We never miss an episode. We will be very disappointed if it gets canceled.

A quality drama series is getting harder to find on TV these days, and when you do get hooked on one, it gets canceled!!! I really don’t care for most of the reality programs, but watch because they are the only option provided at times. I miss quality programing and to shorter commercial breaks… hard to remember what your were watching by the time you get back to the program these days.

Those in charge at CBS don’t care at all what the people want to see, they just keep regurgitating garbage like Big Brother and The Unit. I hope they move it to Sci-Fi. There’s a network who knows and appreciates loyal viewers! I followed season 1 faithfully, heard it was cancelled, missed all of season 2 because I didn’t know where or when to find it. I’ve finally caught up on dvd. The dvd extras show what the producers had to work with, very little time and very little money. They still managed to make it better than it was last season!! Sci-Fi, Bring back Jericho!!!!

where I got it for free in streaming video. If you go to their home page you can get the yahoo version otherwise you get todou version which comes out of China. If anyone is interested it is free. Great show and hope it comes back with 3rd season.

I agree with everyone. Jericho is the best TV show ever. its something that you can relate to. I was searching the web one day on ebay when i came across jericho. i had no idea what it was bought the first season and was HOOKED!!! i loved it. so i bought the second season aswell, i really hope CBS or scifi reads these and picks up on it. because their is alot of people out their who want a third series.

If ScFI woul take this show over I would love to see where it goes. It stinks they had to kill off the best character in Jake’s dad, the old may(I don’t know his name). But I think that there are still plenty of good ideas on the table and good characters left in the mixing pot to make the show good.

This is possibly the best television show I have watched. So gripping. Really touches every emotion and keeps you on the edge of your seat. A third season would be awesome.. Not sure whats going to happen but I continue to keep my hopes up for season 3.
