Mortal Kombat Remake?

Mortat Kombat

I remember when Mortal Kombat was release for the first time when I was a kid.  I would play that game for hours and hours, and I loved ever minute of it. ABACABB... I still remember the blood code, lol, for god sake.

The director on this movie is named..... Mink.  Thats it... Mink.  Lets see what he has to say about Mortal Kombat.

The status of the film, as of today, is that “...the Producers are working out their deals with the studio and arranging their financing”, says the director, who helmed Steven Seagal's “Into the Sun”.

mink says the project isn't so much a sequel as it is a “re-envisioning(if that is a word) of the Mortal Kombat franchise from top to bottom. Todays audience is a savvy involved group so the film must be A plus plus in every area in order to capture the magic of the first film. It is taking the entire concept to the next level across the board in every area visual design, story, cast, FX, photography and most importantly the fighting scenes. The original Mortal Kombat game was born a child of many visual loves by the creators at midway so this latest version borrows heavily from that pioneering spirit and must be thought out and executed at the highest level in order for it succeed in today's market place. This is no overnight task.''

Though the IMDB has Christopher Lambert returning as Rayden, mink says casting hasn't begun yet.

“First things first, is the way these larger projects need to be done. It is still in the business stages but once that is squared away all casting options will be explored along with the continued development of the best story line.”

So basically, this guy Mink has directed 2 things, one of them with Steven Segal, in a movie I never heard of.  The second movie is called Full Clip, starring Busta Rymes and Xzibit... yeah, i'm sure that movie sucked.  So basically Mink has no experience listed, and it really doesn't give me any hope that this movie is going to be any good.

Personally, I really like the first film, and the second film wasn't all that bad, even though Christopher Lambert wasnt in it.  He was awesome in the first movie.

Unfortuantely its been too long since the first one was made, and I really never expected a 3rd film.  But here it is... I'm expecting that this movie is just going to pass us by or not get made.

    MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE.

So the Mortal Kombat series is getting remade,
so they would have new cast for the new film and Kung Lao will be feated in the film.
Drew McWeeney,Scott Swan and Ed Boon will work on the script so thay will have a new Liu Kang actor in the movie.Robin Shou can’t come back for Liu Kang but he might or he might not.
John Foo would make a good Kung Lao or that Shin Koyamada would fit for Liu Kang.
    Thank you.

This sounds like a great idea as long two things are done. 1. Make this film Rated R. If its PG-13 it will be as skin deep and stupid as the sequal was, plus for a video game that thrived on gore and violence the PG-13 raiting stunted the original from going to the depths that it should have. 2. Do not kill off/or cut out fan favorites. They did this in x-men with Morph, Gambit, and jubelee because the writers were afraid that it may take away from the central character (wolverine) and they ruined the film. This is a stupid cop out and should be avoided. Plus with a game like this, or a comic like X-men there never really was a :”central Character” and if they really took their time they could completely make a really good film…the right way. Get the weinstein co. involved and it probably will be awesome
