Underworld 3: Billy Nighy Returns

viktorThe lastest news for Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans is simply great news, because both Viktor and Kraven (Bill Nighy, Shane Brolly) are going to return to the Underworld Franchise.

We've been scooped this afternoon that Bill Nighy will return as Viktor and Shane Brolly as Kraven in Lakeshore Entertainment's Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans, which will be released theatrically by Sony Screen Gems. They join the previously announced Michael Sheen and Rhona Mitra in the film being helmed by FX guru Patrick Tatopoulos. The prequel is set in the Dark Ages and traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their one-time werewolf slaves, the Lycans. Production begins mid-January in Auckland, New Zealand.

Bill Nighy as Viktor is one of the best casted Vampire roles of all time.  For that matter anything Bill Nighy does is simply gold.  Its also cool to see Shane Brolly come back as Kraven.  Michael Sheen as you'll remember plays the part of Lucian, the Lycan leader.  Its unknown at this time what role, Rhona Mitra will be playing, but if you want to know what she looks like, just look at the Doomsday post, that I posted earlier.

One of the saddest things about Underworld 3 is, no Kate Beckinsale.  As far as I know, she won't even be in the film as even a cameo.  Thats terrible news, but I still have hopes for this movie.  This is a great chance to make a kick ass film.  Its also a delightful change of formula in a sense, because this is taking place during the Middle Ages, meaning no guns.  This movie is all sword play and thats something I think would do nicely.  This is just another film, that I'll be looking foward to seeing!
