Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins Spoilers

ImageShackChud.com has put together a list of things we should expect to see in the next Terminator film.  Some of it sounds cool, but some of it also infuriates me.  I'll get to that later.

As most of you, by now, should know Christian Bale was last heard to be in serious talks of siging on to play the hero character of John Connor.  That for me was amazing news.  I love Christian Bale, hes an amazing actor.  Its also a huge grab for McG (director).

Now this is the thing... Chud.com is saying that John Connor is not even the main character in the film... in fact, he's barely in it.  WTF?!?!

John Connor is not the main character of Terminator 4; that character is someone named Marcus. Marcus was put 'out of commission' before the nuclear holocaust on Judgment Day and he wakes up about 15 years before the future we see in the original Terminator films, which puts the movie at about 2015 or so. Marcus is a bad ass - think along the lines of Riddick - and what he finds is a blasted world filled with horror. Radiation poisoning, starvation, rampant jaywalking - all the things you expect post-apocalypse. There's also John Connor, who is trying to build a utopian society while running the human resistance.Connor's role is apparently bigger in the second film; whoever they hire for Marcus (my understanding is that the part is not yet cast) will be around for all three films. Terminator 4 is going to be the most male-centric of all the Terminator films, but there is a butt busting female character by the name of Blair, a pilot for the human resistance. They're going to need some buttkickers, because the scope of the action in Terminator 4 is HUGE. Lots of machine action in this film, including some battles with the T-600s. Yup, the rubber skin Terminators. And there's another familiar character that shows up - Reese shows up in a scene with John Connor. I don't know what his involvement in the next two films will be, though.

Finally, here's a story point that's probably a legitimate spoiler (although it's sort of the main crux around which the story revolves, so it will probably get blown in the advertising), so I'll invisotext this stuff: A big aspect of the story is the degrees of difference between a human and a Terminator. By which I mean cyborgs. By which I mean human brains in robot bodies.

First off, John Connor not as the main character, I think is just a stupid choice.  Thats seriously wasting Christian Bales talent, and not for nothing.... why would you make Connor the secondary character... He's the basis for the whole mythology.  Most people, at least me, want to see General John Connor take on the Terminators.

Second... Marcus, is like a Riddick Character?  I have a feeling that this is just so unneeded.  I don't think they should waste time on new characters, building character development and so on.  Why waste time, when you have John Connor, where his character is basically developed, and just start from there and let the distruction begin.

Third... Kyle Reese shows up... I'm there.  To bad Michael Biehn won't be able to do this.  Hes character is younger then the character that shows up in the first Terminator film.  Though it still might work

Finally.... Terminators with human brains.... Christ... Let me guess, are the Terminators now going to walk around saying, "all of this happened before, and all of this happend again."  Yes, I'm refering to Battlestar Galactica, more directed at, The Cylons.

Overall, I don't have hope for this movie or movies.   I do love that Bale is involved, but this whole thing seems like its going to be a disappointment, I really hope I'm wrong.

    I-950
Unlike the T series Terminators, the I series are not factory built machines. Skynet decided that the best way for one of its terminators to act human was to start out with a human and add technological enhancements where necessary. The I-950 starts out as a baby with a neural net processor attached to its brain, providing an uplink to Skynet. To condition it physically, it is coaxed with holographic toys to crawl until it is exhausted. After four years, it is given an injection that rapidly ages it to maturity to finish its training. In an effort to blend in better with humans, the I-950 is allowed to feel emotions, but the range is limited by one of its cybernetic implants. Because it is far more human than machine, dogs are not alerted to its presence, and the infiltrator can go undetected for extremely long periods of time inside a resistance base.

These are the “Terminators with Brains” , supposively.

WOW!! Gene thanks for the info. Thats really interesting stuff. I myself was happy with just the machines vs. the humans. No crazy creations and so on. I’ll continue to look at this a little later.

I’m just glad Christian Bale’s in it. He totally owned Batman! I think it’s good that the “Terminators with Brains” have a limited range of emotions. I don’t want one of them to go all touchy feely and decide to help the humans. I’ve seen enough of that crap to fill a mini series!
