Gerard Butler May Still Be In Escape From New York Remake

Just a couple of months ago, rumors said that Gerard Butler had dropped out of the Escape from New York remake.  It turns out that this news was a bit exaggerated.

Over at Nationalpost.com, they put up a post with Butler speaking about his new film with Hilary Swank called, P.S. I Love You.  You may have seen the TV spots.  At the end of the article, they touched on Escape and Butler responded that he, "hasn't dropped out of the project as suggeted," and right now, "he's taking a wait see position."

Also, first Len Wiseman (Underworld) was tapped to direct, then he dropped out... Then we heard Brett Ratner was involved, and something happened with that, now Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3) is suppossedly rewriting the script with an option to direct.  All that said, it appears at least to me that this movie has serious issues, and we'll be waiting a long time for it to get off the ground.  It doesn't even matter at this point because, as you all know, the writers are on strike.

As Gerard Butler says, "There is no start time for it yet."  There you have it.
