Screamers 2??

ImageShackSo unexpected news, at least for me, has come out, and it comes from Moviehole.net.  Sheldon Wilson has been tapped to direct a sequel to the 90s Science Fiction film, Screamers

Set to lens in Canada in January, “Screamers 2” fixes on a group of humans from earth, including Lt. Victoria Bronte, who arrive on Sirius 6-B to investigate an SOS signal sent out from the planet, which has been supposedly deserted since the destruction of the man-made weapons known as "screamers."

Once the squad arrives, they find a group of human survivors eking out an existence in an old military outpost, but more important, they discover that the threat of the screamers has become even more insidious, now that they're able to morph into human form.

Producers are currently casting the role of Eugene Orsow, described as “An odd and quirky, but affable man, wearing infrared goggles and patchwork/homemade armored clothing, with a hand-made electricity gun, Orsow is a brilliant scientist who is the actual inventor of the screamers, and who has remained on Sirius 6-B in the wake of the death of his friend and colleague, Joseph Hendrickson - Bronte's father. Having made a sort of life for himself out of the remains of a military outpost on Sirius 6-B, Orsow is determined to keep the plague of the screamers on Sirius, and away from Earth.”

I haven't seen Screamers in several years.  I do remember enjoying it.... I think.... I actually don't remember much of it.  Just when I saw this news, the feeling of enjoyment hit me.  Back then, however, I wasn't much of a movie critic or pundit.  I just enjoyed as much scifi has I could get.  Thats why i'm a geek.  That said, is a sequel, really needed?  Most would say no, but you know what, I say Go For It.  It will probably be kinda terrible, then agian, it might be good.  Hey, at least its not a remake.  So, overall, I really don't care that its being made, but I'm not opposed to it, at all.
