The Mist - Review
This review is written by Ernest. The review is that of his commentary and opinion alone. Please respect that.

The Mist is the latest Steven King novella to be transformed into a movie, with Frank Darabont at the helm. I must say that this movie did deliver the goods, yet it had faults. Problem number one is the CGI creatures. Sometimes it worked and other times not so well. It does pain me to think how amazing those creatures would of been if it were done with creature suits, puppets, animatronics, prosthetics, rather than hit or miss CGI creatures. Check out 1982's The Thing to see outstanding creature effects... trust me on this. My only other problem is the song at the end of the movie. The vocals kind of killed the mood that it had. If only the organ was playing alone, it would of been sickly perfect.
With that aside this movie does kick some major ass. The acting is great throughout the film. As viewer, you will feel for film's characters and hate some of them, and before we know it- we too will pick a side. Movies with strong characters will always do that to the watcher. Also, The Mist was alot more violent and bloody than I had anticipated, which is always a good thing. Yet what really makes me like this movie is the tension and the human break-down it releases. The film's pace gives it time to breath, without killing it's high. For the ending I love it. It's mean and bleak, that's how I like my horror films. I must also say that Darabont did a wonderful job with The Mist. He gave the movie class, which is something many recent horror movies are lacking. I'm a bit dejected though, because it's box office numbers are way too low. I can only hope that more horror fans or fans of good movies will catch on and support this. Or do we want another Halloween 2007 to be made.
Score: 7.5/10
