Star Trek XI: Ben Cross Is Sarek

Word has come out finally that Spocks father Sarek has finally been cast.  Ben Cross joins Star Trek to father Zachary Quinto.  Thanks to Trekmovie.com and there sources, they give us this news.

After receiving a tip, TrekMovie.com has confirmed with a trusted source that 59 year-old English actor Ben Cross will be playing Sarek. Cross himself has seemingly confirmed it as well, as Star Trek is listed on his official site.

I like this a lot.  I think, besides bringing back Leonard Nimoy, hiring Eric Bana and Karl Urban, this is the best casting they've done.  Cross is a hell of an actor.  More then that he has the appearence that will make him pass as a Vulcan easy.  I will say that it will be very difficult to not hear the voice of Mark Leonard, or any of the original cast for that matter.  Even so, I'm very much pleased with the casting.  I think in a way, he has a bit of the same look that Mark Leonard had portraying Sarek.  Sure, it'll never match to the genius of Leonards creation, but I really do think that it will work.  Tell you the truth the fact that Ben Cross has been hired, makes Winona Ryder's apperance much more appreciated.  I can actually picture both of them together as Amanda and Sarek.

At first I thought some of this like Ryder was just stunt casting, but hearing news like this casting really excites me. They are really trying to make this good.
