Several months ago, it was reported that Joseph Kosinski, a commercial director, apparently got hired to direct a sequel to Tron.  Soon after that he also got the job to the big budget remake of Logan's Run.  A commercial director you say??  I thought the same thing when I first heard his name.  Do a little research and you'll see that this guy has an eye for science fiction.  I'll give him the benifit fo the doubt.  But he isn't the story here, Jeff Bridges is.

Why not to do it? 

..... But the reasons to do it and the reason I did that one (the original Tron) was because it was so innovative and I understand that they’ve got a whole new batch of stuff like that… innovations that they want to use on this so that could be kind of fun.

I for one really hope a sequel gets made.  If Bridges returns, SURE! that would be great.  However, there is no Tron without Bruce Boxleitner.  So if one does get made, hopefully he'd come back and reprise the role.  I don't see any reason why he wouldn't.  All that said, again, I really hope a new film gets made.
