Marcus Nispel May Direct Friday The 13th

Shock Till You Drop has gotten word that Marcus Nispel may be close to making a deal for directing Friday The 13th.  Marcus Nispel has, in the past directed the remake Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the recently Karl Urban film, Pathfinder.  This is what they tell us.

Our source says that his deal is close to complete and that shooting is expected to begin this winter. Nispel will be working from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift

Now, I'm not any type of authority when it comes to horror films, but like most remakes including this, I'm sick of them.  Nispel himself, so far, has not proven himself as a great director.  Pathfinder is an extreme disappointment.  Granted its kind of a guilty pleasure for me, only because Karl Urban and Clancy Brown are both in that film.  In my opinion, I don't think there is any director out there that can handle a film of this calibur.  I also, very much believe that the horror genre, seriously needs a rest.  There is new horror movies coming out all the time, and almost all of them have been terrible and huge dissappointment to the fan community.

Overall, I don't have any hope for this movie.  Even if Nispel wasn't involved, I don't and will not think this film will even please the most easy of fans.
