Bruce Greenwood Is Captain Christopher Pike

The Hollywood Report is confirming that Bruce Greenwood has been cast to play Captain Christoper Pike, previous commander, before James T Kirk.  Greenwood, is a very experienced actor having more then 90 film credits to his name, including I, Robot, The Core, and upcoming National Treasure 2.  Sure, ok, not the best films, but... he does have a credit as a guardsman in Rambo First Blood, lol.  Thats funny.  Here is what the HR had to say.

Bruce Greenwood has been cast as Christopher Pike, the Starship Enterprise's first captain, in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" feature for Paramount.

The character of Capt. Pike appeared in the original unaired pilot that Gene Roddenberry created. The pilot was rejected by CBS and then shown to NBC, which turned it down, though it liked the concept enough to commission a second pilot. (Only the character of Spock survived the redevelopment.)

I still would have rather had Ray Liotta as Pike, but things never go my way.  I guess I'm ok with it, but I won't really know until the movie is released.  You be the judge.

By the time you read this, Star Trek has been filming for one full day already.... yaya.

I think that’s a great casting choice. He has a good sci/fi backround. I can see him fitting the role with the troubled spirit well.
