Superman: Man Of Steal In Trouble?

I'm one of not many that really liked Superman Returns.  In fact, I actually loved Superman Returns,  a lot.  I've been very excited at Bryan Singer to start up with a sequel.  That now may not happen, at least for a while.  Variety gives us this.

"Superman Returns" scribes Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris have opted not to come back and pen a sequel to the 2006 summer pic that would have reunited them with helmer Bryan Singer. The three also worked together on "X2: X-Men United."

As a result, WB is now taking pitches for Supe's next outing from other scribes -- just as the studio is trying to figure out which actor will don the character's tights in "Justice League."

Ok, first, screw Justice League, I think its a horrible idea to begin with and everyone knows that this film is going to be horrible anyways.  I really don't care about who is going to play there Superman, so thats that.

The fact that the writers have left, is not a terrible thing.  Its never a wrong thing or bad thing to bring in new writers for a movie.  They can possibly bring in something fresh to the franchise... if there is a franchise.  The thing that is now worrying me is this, and many people are saying the same thing.  Will Bryan Singer bail out too??  If he does, we might be in trouble when it comes to a sequel to Returns.

Rumors are now starting to come around that WB is may be looking to restart the frachise, just like what is happening with Edward Norton's new Hulk picture.  I really hope this is not the case.... I hope WB can work with Singer to bring a good sequel that will make everyone happy.  One of the big problems of Superman Returns, is that it cost to much to make.  $300 million... ok, thats way to much money for a movie.  A fact to that, is that WB still made a profit off of it.  Yet they are upset that they didn't make a huge profit.  I don't know the exact numbers, but they made somewhere around 90 million.  Hey WB, if you want more money.... don't spend 300 million to make a movie.  Honestly, where did that money go.

WB needs to work with Singer, get new writers and give us a great film, because if a Superman sequel doesn't get made, we'll be stuck with this crappy Justice League movie that no one wants to see in the first place.
