Over the last several months rumors on who would play the main villain in Star Trek XI hit the net a few times.  It started with Russel Crowe and most recently Karl Urban.  I personally love both of those rumor, but neither has come true.  Thats Ok, because Eric Bana, has been cast to the the lead villian, a Romulan named Nero, in Star Trek XI.

The villain in the new Star Trek film will be played by an Australian, but not (as rumored) Russell Crowe. Trek’s new bad guy will be played by Eric Bana, star of the 2005 Steven Spielberg film Munich . According to StarTrek.com the 38 year-old Aussie will be playing a character called ‘Nero,’ but no other details have been provided.

I honeslty love this.  Eric Bana is a great actor.  So far every bit of news that has come out about this film has given me a little more hope each time.  When the news of that the film was getting made a while back, I wasn't sure how to feel.  I figured it would be another bad Star Trek Movie (which I all love by the way) to add to the list.  I'm a big Star Trek fan, and I do enjoy all of the movies, but I can determine whats a good film from a bad film, and Star Trek has had some bad film.  I really am hoping JJ Abrams can ressurect the franchise, and the fact that Bana is aboard joining, Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto, I think things are starting to come together very well, and i'm starting to get a little pumped for it.  Eric Bana, I think is a great casting choice, and i'm excited to see what kind of villian he can be.
